Carlyle Group To Purchase Tribune Co.?

Michael Moore’s favorite company, the D.C.-based Carlyle Group, “is mulling an outright sale of the company, asking private-equity firms, including one based in Washington, to submit nonbinding indications of interest by the end of the month, according to a Monday report from The Wall Street Journal.”

The Tribune Co. owns the Baltimore Sun as well as the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Morning Call, Newsday, The Daily Press, the Advocate, Greenwich Time, South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel and Hartford Courant. Their broadcasting arm runs 25 T.V. stations. Oh yeah, and they also own the Cubs.
