Apparently revolutionizing the PDA, shopping cart and task chair is not enough. In Metropolis, Andrew Blum examines what IDEO is doing to revolutionize urban planning. Namely by spiffying up Kansas City’s 18th and Vine neighborhood, a birthplace of jazz and black culture. But instead of dragging a revenue-generating stadium or aquarium into the fold, the deep-diving folks at IDEO are focusing on branding the revitalized neighborhood (hmm, like what we’re seeing right outside our window?).
