BuzzFeed Picks Michael Hastings Fellow

The Fellowship is a yearlong post focused on “national security and challenging institutions of power, the cornerstone of Michael’s work.” He begins on Oct. 20.

Johnsen, the author of The Last Refuge: Yemen, al-Qaeda, and America’s War in Arabia, will focus on U.S. national security and its impact both domestically and around the world.

“Gregory Johnsen has already proven himself one of his generation’s wisest and most original voices on national security. He’s the right writer to carry on Michael’s legacy of fiercely intelligent and deeply compelling journalism about how America has shaped and been shaped by more than a decade of war,” said Ben Smith, BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief, in a release.
