Match up the shareable style of BuzzFeed with the journalistic brand of CNN and you get their new online video venture, “CNN BuzzFeed.”
BuzzFeed announced the deal Tuesday, calling it “a new generation of video content.” The partnership also includes YouTube, which will host the exclusive content.
“BuzzFeed has built a remarkably engaged audience and their YouTube channels are a testament to their understanding of news and entertainment,” said YouTube Director and Global Head of News Content Partnerships Jed Simmons. “They have a very special way of telling a story. BuzzFeed’s decision to double down on their YouTube channels is incredibly exciting and we look forward to continuing to work together and helping them grown.”
As part of the new venture… BuzzFeed is constructing a new video studio in Los Angeles to produce original content. (The press release touts a “coffee shop and store” that will be housed in the studio). The site plans on growing its new video team to 30 staffers over the next several months.
