Buy Two New Stadiums, Get the Third 1/2 Off

The big announcement yesterday in the world of sport, or rather, in the world of sport that doesn’t really have all that much to do with the sports themselves, was the announcement of who would be building the stadiums needed for South Africa when the World Cup takes over the country just four short years from now. The winner, the Berlin-based firm, Gerkan, Marg and Partner. According to this article from the BBC, the firm landed the gig by doing such a fine job in handling the renovations to the Olympic Stadium in Berlin (started back in 1998, finished in 2004), where the final match took place, and was handed the job to build three gigantic new stadiums, in Cape Town, Durban, and Port Elizabeth.
