Broad and Burkle Make Their Bid

Two of the three LA Billionaires who have expressed an interest in buying the LAT submitted a joint bid today, the LAT reports.

It’s not known what the bid was, but we’re guessing developer Eli Broad and supermarket magnate Ron Burkle weren’t bargain-shopping. Both seem hell-bent on losing money — or at least they say they are. Unlike the Tribune Company (whose tactics clearly didn’t work), the billionaire boys say they aren’t afraid of slipping profits so long as news gets covered well.

Personally, we don’t buy it. But with their Rumsfeld-like timing, we have to hand it to them: they’re giving us a good show.
