Breaking: NY Times To Drop TimesSelect

According to the New York Post, the New York Times has decided to drop its subscription service called TimesSelect, freeing up access to the Op-Ed columnists and other restricted content.

The move is believed to be in response to stagnant subscription numbers – hovering around the 220,000 mark – and a possible anticipatory strike against Murdoch, who recently said that he thinks the WSJ should be free online.

At the time of this post, the TimesSelect registration curtain on the Times site is still in place.
