Boingo Piles on the Hotspots

MediaPost reports that owners of Wi-Fi-enabled Sony Ericsson handsets can now download Boingo Mobile, an application that lets subscribers get online at more than 80,000 Boingo hotspots worldwide.

The report said that the LA-based Boingo’s network includes more than 500 airports—including 85 of the top 100 airports worldwide—as well as coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and other retail locations. This is a similar arrangement to what T-Mobile (and later, AT&T) offer subscribers in terms of Wi-Fi access at Starbucks and Barnes and Noble, for example—except that in this case, Boingo is offering an app download.
