Back in October we introduced you to Israeli startup Bizzabo, the smartphone app designed to help professionals discover new business opportunities at conferences and event organizers to promote and engage directly with attendees. Today, Bizzabo has announced that it has secured $1.5 million in funding from leading angel investors.
The $1.5 million funding round is led by Israeli industry figures including Kaedan Capital Group, Gigi Levi, Prof. Yair Tauman, AfterDox angels group and American and European angel investors. According to a press release, “The funds raised will be put towards opening a U.S. presence, expanding its workforce, and growing the user base of event organizers and attendees as it becomes the go-to app for networking at conferences, meetups and business gatherings.”
Serial angel investor Gigi Levy says, “Bizzabo has one of the best teams a startup can ask for with the outstanding ability to transform the way we connect with each other at events. Bizzabo’s offer for organizers and attendees is a game changer for the meetings industry.”
In addition to $1.5 million in funding, today Bizzabo also announces their official launch. The launch comes complete with a new website, a brand new self-service web interface for event organizers, and redesigned iPhone and Android apps for event goers.
On a personal note, I’ve used Bizzabo at a number of conferences and events and I truly believe that it represents a giant step forward for the conference-going experience. I was able to discover and make connections with people that might have otherwise slipped past my radar which, from my perspective, is what going to conferences and events is all about.
