Bitly doesn't just want to be the site that crops your URLs—it wants to be your one-stop portal for digital data, too.
The online company announced today it is rolling out the Bitly Certified Partner Program, a way to tell which platforms paint accurate pictures of how well links are performing without compromising publisher safety.
"Certification is really about highlighting the marketplace for our customers and saying which third-party platforms in that [landscape] marketers can trust to have a good experience with," said Jennifer Hanser, Bitly’s senior director of strategy and partnerships.
"We're excited to be an official Bitly Certified Partner. Beyond the obvious advantages of a massive data set and enterprise-grade link analytics, they make integration a breeze with excellent documentation and bullet-proof reliability," said Percolate CEO Noah Brier said in a press release.
By providing more data from trusted sources, Bitly hopes that marketers can understand more about how many people are directly clicking on a link, Hanser explained. Perhaps more importantly, publishers may learn exactly how customizing links can help drive more traffic to a website, she added. Bitly's premium services not only allow publishers to customize the front end of the shortened link but also the back end behind the backslash, which can be "valuable landscape and real estate for a marketer," Hanser said.
