BET’s chairman and CEO Debra Lee is joining Twitter’s board of directors. Lee has been chairman and CEO of BET since 2006.
Lee has been with BET in 1986. During her time there she served in a variety of roles, including president and COO.
This is just the latest board nomination for Lee. She also serves on the boards of WGL Holdings, Marriott International, the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, Girls Inc., the Telecommunications Development Fund and the National Cable Television Association.
“Debra’s addition strengthens our Board immensely,” said Twitter’s executive chairman, Omid Kordestani, in a statement. “She’s a highly respected leader in the media industry with decades of experience, and has a clear passion for Twitter as a service and a company.”
