Disney launched Beauty and the Beast: Perfect Match on iOS and Android. Developed by Hibernum, the match-three puzzle game is themed after the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, which debuted in theaters in March.
In Beauty and the Beast: Perfect Match, gamers can complete a variety of match-three levels to earn coins, which they can spend to decorate rooms throughout Beast’s castle. Players can unlock more than 150 different items, and they’ll interact with the film’s characters along the way.
While many movie-themed games are released soon before or after a film’s release in theaters, the launch of Beauty and the Beast: Perfect Match falls a bit outside of that window. However, the game should help bring the film back to the forefront of fans’ minds ahead of its Blu-ray, DVD and digital release June 6.
What’s more, the game may see a pickup in downloads and revenue once the film is available to own. In the past, we’ve seen a similar connection between Disney’s Star Wars films and mobile apps, when the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters drove increased revenue and downloads to Star Wars-themed mobile apps and games on iOS.
