BayNewser Coming Soon!…Next Week Actually

baynewser_100x100.gifWe’re getting a new sister blog. The second one on the West Coast – a sister blog to wake up just as late as we do and tell those snobby East Coast sibling blogs where to stick it. Aw. How fun.

BayNewser will be the newest Fishbowl type of site covering media news and gossip in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

The editors are:

  • E.B. Boyd, who has been a contributing writer to mediabistro.com for several years, and who has a television and print news media background (CNN, Toledo Blade). Most recently E.B. has been working for Silicon Valley software and Internet companies in product design. Check out FishbowlLA for E.B.’s coverage of a media conference in SF last Friday.

  • Jason Turbow, an admitted “news junkie” who grew up in the Bay Area, and who spent five years at San Francisco Chronicle. Jason has also worked for online media outlets including NBCi and Bay Insider. His first book, a non-fiction, baseball-themed title, is set for publication next year.

  • The site is officially launching on Monday. We’ll keep you update here.

Entire press release after the break.

mediabistro.com, a division of WebMediaBrands Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBM), today announced the launch of BayNewser.com, its latest news media blog site.

BayNewser.com will cover the rapidly changing media landscape in the endlessly innovative San Francisco/Silicon Valley market. BayNewser.com will deliver the news about the news in the Bay Area, break media stories from Russian Hill to Menlo Park, and cover the new media ventures the rest of us only learn about later. From Google to Craigslist, from the Chronicle to the Merc, from KNTV to KCBS – BayNewser.com will be your one-stop source for news about the Bay Area news media.

“Silicon Valley is the natural next stop for the mediabistro.com blog network,” says Laurel Touby, SVP and founder of mediabistro.com. “This is where the media of the future will be invented and we’ll be there to cover that reinvention and the conversation around it. BayNewser.com is just the beginning of more great offerings from mediabistro.com. Look for more cocktail parties, must-attend events and now a media blog the Bay Area can call its own.”

With the addition of BayNewser.com, the mediabistro.com network now includes 12 online destinations serving media professionals from all disciplines in markets including New York (FishbowlNY.com), Washington, DC (FishbowlDC.com) and Los Angeles (FishbowlLA.com). As well as national sites including industry-leading TVNewser.com, covering the never-dull cable and broadcast news world; AgencySpy.com, delivering the inside scoop on the ad world; GalleyCat.com, the first word in book publishing; as well as UnBeige.com, PRNewser.com, WebNewser.com, MediaJobsDaily.com and MobileContentToday.com.
