It has largely been digital publications who have been part of a new wave of unionization efforts, but the latest to unionize is a good old-fashioned alt-weekly, The Baltimore City Paper, a publication with a 50,000 print circulation and an average of 300,000 monthly unique visitors. All seven of the 10-member editorial staff who were eligible to unionize have, voting to be represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.
Baltimore City Paper owner Baltimore Sun Media Group, which owns the Baltimore Sun as well as a network of regional magazines, voluntarily recognized the union.
