Two items, none of them good…

  • Village Voice Media chief editor Michael Lacey and CEO Jim Larkin were arrested yesterday under suspicious circumstances. If we were gambling types, we’d say it’s politically motivated — all evidence points to this being a product of grandstanding Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio‘s war with the Phoenix New Times. We’ll have more shortly.

  • It’s likely that Attorney General-designate Michael Mukasey will weigh whether to subpoena multiple reporters at the New York Times in the NSA leak case. Ugh.
