Coming back from his July vacation, Jon Stewart had no shortage of material to work with on Monday night’s episode. But with such little time left as host of The Daily Show, what would Stewart choose? The Iran deal? Greece? Chattanooga?
Of course, the answer is none other than D) Donald J. Trump. Monday’s episode featured a full two segments on ”the patron saint of topical comedians who are just running out the clock” — shredding the GOP candidate for his comments regarding Senator McCain’s war record.
“At long last, does the man — who accused the vast majority of Mexican immigrants of being drug addicted rapists — have no sense of decency?” asked Stewart, poking fun at the GOP field for their deferred denunciation of Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric.
“Why is anyone acting surprised about Trump?” he continued. “The only reason you liked this guy in the first place is because of the terrible things he was willing to say about Obama. But Trump has no control over the projectile vomit of dickishness that comes out of his mouth every time he opens it. It was inevitable some of his word puke was gonna get on you.”
Senior election correspondent Jordan Klepper went a step further, dedicating the second segment to asshole-Americans across the country — as Trump, the “inspiration” to hedge fund managers and frat boys everywhere, looks to become “our first openly asshole president.”
