Armory Show to Expand, Renovate Venue

It’s awfully cold outside, and so our thoughts turn to spring and more specifically, to the Armory Show, which makes Manhattan an art bonanza in early March. A while back, we told you that the commissioned artist for the 2009 show is Ewan Gibbs, and now comes news of the fair’s ambitious expansion plans. First up is the planned $100 million renovation of the venue: The New York City Economic Development Corporation has designated the Armory Show’s parent company, Merchandise Mart Properties, to redevelop and expand the exhibition space on Piers 92 and 94.
