AR.Drone WiFi Controller Quadracopter (video demo): Be Prepared to Pay for Replacement Parts

My friend and fellow gadget fan Paul Lawler were guests on a local public radio tech talk show (Bytemarks Cafe on KHPR) yesterday. He brought a Parrot AR.Drone quadracopter and gave a brief demo in the radio studio before the broadcast began. You can see him controlling the AR.Drone with an iPad in the confined studio space.

His comment to me, as a prospective AR.Drone buyer, is that the $299 is the starter price and to expect to spend at least another $100 is replacement parts. It was a lot noiser than I expected. The reason? The video ads on YouTube and elsewhere dub the sound in and do not actually play back the sound of the AR.Drone.
