April 16 is a special day for foursquare. It’s not the date of a rollout of a new version, or compatibility with new platforms, or a large infusion of venture capital. So, why April 16? Because four squared equals 16.
According to a post on the foursquare Blog, the idea for 4sqday originated with a group of users in the Tampa, Fla., area last year, going viral and leading to more than 300 local 4sqday parties.
And foursquare is encouraging use of the 4sqday logo, saying in its blog post:
We created the new special foursquare day design because so many of you love the new badges. Our lawyers have even cleared it so you can put the 4sqday logo on anything you want, even trucker hats! If you want to use any of our other logos, send an email to the team at firstname.lastname@example.org. They’re really nice!
