Following yesterday’s crisis FAQ response to the controversy over Apple’s data-collecting “bug,” CEO Steve Jobs came out with a response of his own.
He went on to say that “rather than run to the P.R. department,” the company conducted an investigation into what happened. Jobs said he and two other Apple execs, Philip Schiller, SVP of global product marketing, and Scott Forstall, the SVP of iPhone software, crafted the response. The two execs also did the interview with Jobs. Forstall admitted mistakes, but the response has gotten praise.
That may not be enough. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. Ed Markeywrote a letter to Jobs and then Sen. Franken announced a May 10 hearing about mobile devices and privacy. The Daily Beast also reports that the Illinois AG and South Korea and Europe are taking legal action. So there could be more trouble in the offing.
