#AppleEvent: More Than 9,700 Tweets Per Minute About King-Sized iPad Pro

At Apple’s unveiling event Wednesday, analysis and reaction was rampant on social media as reporters spread the news and consumers tweeted how badly they want the new products.

But just how popular was Apple’s event? According to Spredfast, there were more than 1.2 million tweets about the event Wednesday.

During the course of the event, Brandwatch measured more than 179,000 mentions of the #AppleEvent hashtag.

The most ardent fervor was reserved for Apple’s new iPad Pro, with a display of nearly 13″.

According to Brandwatch, #AppleWatch mentions spiked to more than 2,100 in the first minute of Microsoft’s display of the new iPad.

Spredfast noted that the iPad Pro was so popular on Twitter, there were more than 9,700 tweets per minute about the product at its peak.

Spredfast saw a 23 percent increase in tweets about Apple’s event compared to last year. Here’s a look at the product breakdown on Twitter:

Apple Watch

  • 88,421 total tweets
  • Peak: 3,590 tweets per minute

iPad Pro

  • 31,681 total tweets
  • Peak: 9,722 tweets per minute

Apple TV

  • 150,698 total tweets
  • Peak: 5,319 tweets per minute

iPhone

  • 400,982 total tweets
  • Peak: 8,548 tweets per minute

Oddly enough, the most positive sentiment on Twitter came when Apple showed off the Apple Pencil, a stylus for the iPad Pro. Via Brandwatch, here’s a look at positive (and negative) sentiment on Twitter throughout the event:

image002Brandwatch also saw a spike in intent to buy these new Apple products. Yesterday, the intent to buy an iPhone (as measured by social mentions) rose 7X. Intent to buy an iPad has increased 9X.
