Apple Insider is reporting that Apple is selling about 500,000 Apple TV set top boxes per quarter.
Here is more from the blog: “The latest update to Apple’s $99 streaming media box arrived last fall and within just a few months went on to sell a million units. Since then, Apple has provided no update on sales of the device, but Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tells AppleInsider that his industry checks indicate the company shipped 480,000 units during the second calendar quarter of the year, representing more than 70% year-over-year growth.”
Apple TV lets users rent movies, as well as stream Netflix and Major League baseball games. According to a recent Nielsen survey, only 1% of people that stream Netflix do so with an Apple TV. The majority of Netflix users report watching on a TV screen, with half of all Netflix users connect via a game console (Wii, PS3 or Xbox Live).
