Apple Hires Group To Investigate Factories In China

Apple said today that the company has asked the Fair Labor Association to conduct “special voluntary audits of Apple’s final assembly suppliers, including Foxconn factories in Shenzhen and Chengdu, China.”

The announcement comes after Apple has faced scrutiny after reports of unsafe working conditions in its factories in China.

As part of the investigation,  the FLA will interview thousands of employees asking questions about the conditions “including health and safety, compensation, working hours and communication with management.”

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO stated: “We believe that workers everywhere have the right to a safe and fair work environment, which is why we’ve asked the FLA to independently assess the performance of our largest suppliers.
