While Android smartphones have made gains, Apple devices continue to be the leading devises for enterprises, according to Good Technology’s Q3 2011 report.
The report, which looks at secure and managed enterprise mobility platforms, found that iPhones made up 61 percent of all enterprise smartphone activations, while Android activations accounted for 39 percent of smartphone signups.
John Herrema, SVP of Corporate Strategy at Good Technology, attributed the growth in Android platforms to people holding out for the new iPhone. He stated: “This quarter, we saw Android smartphones gain in percentage of total activations. This is likely due to consumers holding back purchases of new iPhones in anticipation of Apple’s latest release (the iPhone 4S)—as our reports indicate, consumers are setting the agenda for enterprise mobility.”
According to the report, Android tablets increased slightly to 4 percent of overall tablet activations for the quarter but iPads (1 & 2) represent over 96 percent of total tablet activations during the quarter. (Via Apple Insider).
