App.net Launches Widgets to Start Cropping Up Around the Web

App.net has set itself the brazen goal of competing with Twitter, and today it is launching an essential part of that strategy: widgets.

The widgets encourage users to share content on the ad-free social network and announce users who are active on it.

“Since launching App.net, we’ve consistently heard feedback that community members want a way to promote their App.net account on their personal websites. We couldn’t agree more,” the company said.

Users can grab the code from App.net or get it from the open-source library GitHub
