App.net has set itself the brazen goal of competing with Twitter, and today it is launching an essential part of that strategy: widgets.
The widgets encourage users to share content on the ad-free social network and announce users who are active on it.
“Since launching App.net, we’ve consistently heard feedback that community members want a way to promote their App.net account on their personal websites. We couldn’t agree more,” the company said.
