AP Union: No Justice, No Tweets

Withholding Tweets as a negotiating tactic? The News Media Guild, which represents journalists, technicians, and other professionals from The Associated Press, will give it a shot next Monday and Tuesday, April 11 and 12, according to an email from NMG mobilizer Linda Johnson to AP staffers, obtained by Jim Romenesko at Poynter.

On Twitter specifically, the email read, “Tweet-outs: Don’t post Tweets or Facebook any links to any AP stories. This is only for those NOT required to Tweet as part of their job.”

Other suggested bargaining ploys in the email include lunchtime rallies, boycotts on the use of personal cars and cell phones, red shirts, “cheAP” and “Work to Rule” buttons, and group staff meetings with managers.
