AP Names Vivian Salama Deputy Political Editor

AP's Baghdad bureau chief is moving to Washington.

Vivian Salama, the current Baghdad bureau chief for the Associated Press, will be moving to Washington this December as deputy political editor, announced Washington bureau chief Sally Buzbee in a memo today.

“Vivian brings a unique background in foreign policy, national politics and major breaking news, along with strong cross-platform experience, to the bureau and to our coverage of the 2016 campaign,” wrote Buzzbee.

That cross-platform experience includes working as a producer in New York for NBC and ABC News before coming to the AP, initially as a freelancer in the Mideast for AP Television from 2004-2006.
