AOL Officially Buys TechCrunch

The rumors were true. AOL has officially acquired TechCrunch. Although the proceedings were not without some drama. At a live press conference, shortly before the transaction was made official, TechCrunch founder Mike Arrington informally polled the crowd about whether he should sign the contract, officially selling his company. The nays had it by what CNN estimates was 60/40 split. Arrington signed anyway. "I'm very pleased to announce that we have acquired TechCrunch," AOL CEO Tim Armstrong wrote on the TechCrunch blog. "Details are in the press release below, and I'm sure founder Michael Arrington will have a few words to say as well. This is a great complement to our continued investment in world class content."
