AOL Names Wiatt to Strategic Post

Tim Armstrong is reaching into AOL’s corporate bullpen for some help.

The company announced today that board member Jim Wiatt, the onetime chairman and CEO of the William Morris Agency, has taken on a new role as strategic advisor to AOL. Wiatt, who will immediately relinquish his board member duties, will report to CEO Armstrong.

It appears that Wiatt will be asked to tap into his Hollywood Rolodex, according to AOL officials. Wiatt will assist Armstrong in areas of content development, partnerships and entertainment/media relationships.

“Jim has made outstanding contributions to the AOL board, but we are grateful to now have more of his time creating partnerships for AOL as we expand our focus on developing original content,” said Armstrong in a statement.
