Sometimes, there’s no need to be verbose. As a number of papers today are displaying, the death this weekend of a Supreme Court Justice with a distinguishing last name can be relayed with the same finality as many of the verdicts Antonin Scalia famously had a hand in.
Several papers opted for different two-word headlines.
And Scalia was such a recognizable figure than in at least one group of editor’s eyes (New Hampshire’s Portsmouth Herald), a single word was sufficient. RIP.
