Like somewhat less irritating predecessor Fred, Annoying Orange’s segue to TV was buttressed by some remarkable online numbers. The fruity A-lister’s viral appeal encompasses one billion-plus page views, 10.8 million Facebook fans and more than a quarter-million Twitter followers.
The show was the #1 rated telecast in the 8:30 p.m. time slot among kids 2 to 11, 6 to 11 (which is a separate demographic advertisers like to use even though the same age group is encompassed in the kids 2 to 11), 9 to 14, and all boys.
Total viewer numbers for Orange (2.6 million) were far less than those racked up by Fred’s Nickelodeon movies. Both properties were transitioned to the old-school tube by LA digital powerhouse The Collective. Episode #2 airs tonight.
