MSNBC “Hardball” Host Chris Matthews.
The King of Interruptions turns 65 today.
Guess who surprised him (in person) with a cake? None other than Vice President Joe Biden, who was at NBC for a taping of MTP that will air this Sunday.
And from FishbowlDC, since we know he so enjoyed his recent conversation with us, we’ve dug up this C-SPAN clip of President Obama (then Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama) wishing him a happy birthday in 2005. Unfortunately that day wasn’t Matthews’s birthday – HA! (as he might say) – it was the eighth anniversary of his show.
Brace yourself Fishbowlers — it’s suspended MSNBCer David Shuster on that clip from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner who asks Obama to wish Matthews a happy anniversary for his Hardball show. POTUS screws the whole thing up, but at D. Shuster’s careful stage direction he quickly corrects himself.
Note to Matthews: Your Wikipedia page needs fixing. (It says your birthday is tomorrow.)
How did that all play out on “Hardball” that week? Find out after the jump…
