America's Got Talent Takes Number One with Some Hefty Ratings

You can call America’s Got Talent a success in its first season with Howard Stern as a judge. The semifinals brought down the house with a first-place finish, pulling in an estimated 765,000 WNBC viewers and a 3.9 rating.

But Fox News Channel had a surprise result, landing in second, thanks to Mitt Romney‘s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. The one-hour broadcast had 621,000 cable viewers and a 3.2 rating.

The RNC coverage boosted FNC to other Top 20 positions.
