Amazon Targets Developers with AppStream

Amazon unveiled AppStream, a service for mobile developers to build “high-fidelity, graphically rich applications” and deliver them via the cloud, Wednesday at its reInvent conference in Las Vegas.

The promise of the new offering from the e-commerce giant is to leverage the power of Amazon’s technology — and the cloud — to give developers an easier way to create and deliver complex apps, including those with 2D and 3D graphics. AppStream, the company said, ensures that the apps will play on any device — even more lightweight mobiles not typically designed to stand up to intensive graphics — simplifying the developer’s job.
