When it comes to Internet press releases, there is a fine line between crafting a legitimate attention-grabbing headline and stumbling with a wild overreach. Today, LA start-up Veztek USA appears to have stumbled.
The headline for their March 7th press release boldy proclaims that “The End is Near: for Kindle and Nook.” We applaud VezTek founder Sani A.J.’s business confidence, but at the same time, those are words likely to be later served on a plate for humble consumption. Per the release:
VezTek USA announced today its planned launch of the first universal eBook reader app for iPhone and iPad platforms. The app will be available for download in the iTunes app store by summer 2011,” said A.J. “The [universal eBook reader] app will enable the users to spend their dollars on the books instead on the reading devices – as has customarily been the case.”
Another funny thing about the VezTek release is that it reads more like a short story than a novel. Word to the PR wise: when you start with a headline like this one, you need to pad with a few more jaw-dropping graphs.
