Al Neuharth, Founder of USA Today, Dies at 89
Al Neuharth, the founder of USA Today, has died. According to the paper, he died after sustaining injuries from a fall in his home. Neuharth was 89 years old.
Neuharth founded USA Today in 1982 and retired from Gannett in 1989. He then began to serve as the chairman of the board of the Gannett Foundation.
In his “Plain Talk” column that he wanted to run after his death, Neuharth wrote, “As a journalist, I had a wonderful window on the world.
