Payroll giant ADP predicts that the U.S. economy shed 22,000 private-sector jobs in January. Analysts disagree, the WSJ reports, on whether the government’s official report, due Friday, will remain flat or show job growth, thanks to the government’s inclusion of public-sector jobs.

The unemployment rate is expected to edge up to 10.1 percent from 10 percent, and according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, U.S. companies announced plans to cut another 71,000 workers–which would be the highest cut in five months.
