With carriers deploying faster networks, new handsets that make it easier to browse the Web and flat-rate data service fees, it shouldn’t be a surprise that mobile Web traffic has more than doubled over the past month. At least throughout the AdMob advertising network.
The mobile ad marketplace’s June statistics show that traffic from the network’s publishers grew 104% in the past year. In June alone, AdMob served over 3.6 billion ads, up nearly 20% over the prior month.
With just under 1.7 billion mobile ads served in June, the US remained the leading market, with 44.2% of all requests. Thanks to new publishers in the AdMob network with significant Indonesian inventory, Indonesia flew past India to become the second-largest market with 12.3% of ads served.
AdMob serves ads for some 5,000 mobile Web sites. The company’s June Mobile Metrics Report is available here.
