ABC Promotes Sonya Crawford

sonyacrawford.jpgABC News has announced that Sonya Crawford, currently with the network’s Newsone affiliate news service, will be a new overnight and early morning anchor in Washington. She’ll contribute to ABC’s “World News Now” and “World News This Morning,” as well as “Good Morning America” and ABC News Now.

“Sonya’s experience covering Washington and her time reporting overseas make her a valuable addition to the overnight and early morning news broadcasts,” said Mr. Westin.

Crawford joined ABC News in November 2002 as a Washington-based correspondent for NewsOne. Since then, she’s covered the war in Iraq from Baghdad, Pope John Paul II‘s death in Rome, and the 2004 presidential election, and contributed to “World News Tonight Saturday” and “World News Tonight Sunday.”

She starts March 20.
