A Quarter Of Businesses Have Spent 'Too Much' On Social

This unscientific poll may be the first stage of a growing pull out of social media.

Smartbrief on Social Media polled its readers—generally marketers and others interested in social media in business—and found that while the vast majority of marketers say their companies have not lost money because of social media, more than 25 percent said they “spent too much on maintaining a social presence for the level of return we’re seeing.” Another 3 percent said they lost money because of legal issues, leakage of sensitive information, or brand damage.
