A Better World for Kids Seeks Funding on Kickstarter

A Better World has announced a Kickstarter campaign for a new game in its uplifting game franchise, aimed specifically at children. Appropriately, the game is called A Better World for Kids, and it takes many of the popular elements from the original A Better World Facebook title (which is aimed at teens and adults) and transforms them into experiences suitable for youngsters. If funded, A Better World for Kids will focus on inspiring children to help make the world a better place, one positive action at a time. The game will be hosted on its own website, and will be compliant with all child privacy laws and regulations. The game will combine actions in the real world with rewards in the virtual game, as users are encouraged to complete tasks like recycling or doing household chores to receive “Do-Good Gold” in the game. While the game appears similar to the original A Better World, the “for Kids” game will focus much more heavily on doing actions in the real world, and not just behind a computer screen. The game’s developers understand how much kids love to play games, but they also want to inspire children to have a balanced lifestyle. In addition, the game will emphasize chatting with others, as well as cooperative play. In order to inspire real-world actions, parents will be encouraged to enter real-world activities into the game for their children to complete. Once the child does them, parents can confirm the task as being completed, and the child earns Do-Good Gold. As with the original game, players will be able to customize their avatar’s appearance and decorate a home for their character. Kids can also raise pets like dogs, cats or even unicorns and dinosaurs, all using that Do-Good Gold. In this way, the game encourages children to embrace their imagination by pretending they’re an adult in these virtual, safe and non-violent environments. In addition, players will be able to take part in a few mini-games, like match-three and word games, all with the same positive themes found elsewhere. A Better World has promised to pledge 10 percent of its post-campaign net profits to charities that help children, so the overall game itself will also help make our world better. A new charity will be selected every two months. The “A Better World for Kids” Kickstarter campaign is now live and accepting pledges. As of today, October 3, the campaign has raised over $26,000 of its $500,000 goal, with 31 days remaining. Unlike the Facebook game, it should be noted A Better World for Kids will offer a subscription service, as many of the campaign's reward tiers include subscriptions to the game.
