The best way to understand why radio host Shotgun Tom Kelly was among last week’s announced 2013 honorees for a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is to take a look at his official career timeline.
He started out with KDEO San Diego in 1966 and has been with LA’s K-Earth 101 since 1997. In between, there have been a dozen and a half other stations in San Diego, Merced, Oxnard, Bakersfield, San Francisco and Phoenix. San Diego’s News 8 caught up with Kelly to find out how he feels about the honor:
Among those chiming in to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Kelly’s behalf was the late Dick Clark, who wrote a letter of endorsement shortly before his death. The DJ Kelly succeeded at K-Earth fifteen years ago, The Real Don Steele, also has a Star on the Walk of Fame.
