Fans of Tim Burton and/or M. Ward might like this new spot for Microsoft’s Zune in which a rosie-cheeked child wanders a gloomy village sharing her magical cookie, which miraculously grows back each time she breaks off half (apparently a reference to the Zune’s music-sharing feature). The girl then falls in love with a gallant rat, who shares his equally magical gingerbread man with her. It’s unclear whether this will boost sales of the Zune, magical cookies or the Nightmare Before Christmas DVD. The style is very Tim Burton; the music is the M. Ward song “Magic Trick,” off his album Post-War. The spot is by ad agency 72 and Sunny.
