Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, the NBA’s newly named creative shop, is putting illusionist/stunt performer David Blaine in its ads for the league. In his career, Blaine has been buried alive, balanced atop a pillar for 34 hours, and frozen in ice—all skills that do not come in especially handy on the court. (The ice thing might work for hockey.) Still, maybe Blaine can be useful for the NBA. Here’s a promotional idea: Weld him inside one of the backboards for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. And while inside, he has to record a new album. Sure, AdFreak recently noted that Magic is still a force in basketball marketing, but we meant Earvin Johnson.
