“Your police department has tagged you in a photo on Facebook!” You haven’t gotten an e-mail like that yet from local law enforcement—but you might in future. Facebook has long been an outlet for public shaming, but some members of the Huntington Beach, Calif., city council wanted to make it punitive by having the city’s police force post mugshots of DUI offenders on the site. This isn’t really a new idea—some cities have put DUI offenders’ pictures up on billboards.
