If you ever wondered how big your career could get with that Hammond organ you got as a kid, consider the budding success of Pomplamoose. Hyundai tapped the YouTube-born indie-rock duo to star in some holiday ads (see below). Now, the pair are populating the Korean carmarker's YouTube channel with making-of videos (one posted after the jump) and are planning a weekly webcast. This isn't the first time Pomplamoose have been featured in car advertising. Their version of "Mr. Sandman" was used in a Toyota Avalon spot. But the Hyundai spots are unusual for featuring Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn as prominently as the cars. It's hard not to like Pomplamoose. For one thing, it's refreshing to see a couple having this much fun working together. Beyond that, their style of music and the videos are like a Saturday Night Live send-up of a couple making music, with a little Mighty Wind thrown in for good measure. It's fun stuff. And Hyundai's in-house agency, Innocean, continues to prove it can outmuscle many of the independents when it comes to creative and viral marketing. The ads were shot in the band's garage, as the making-of video documents.
