Sex sells. But a suggestive antacid commercial is something I never saw coming. This sophomoric Tums spot from ad agency Grey shows a doofus at a carnival getting attacked by a corn dog, cartoon punching sounds and all, until his face is slathered with mustard. Later, he takes a big happy bite as his grinning girlfriend shyly turns away. So, Tums fights subtlety along with acid reflux. I relish the vignette—one of several new spots in an ongoing campaign—as a metaphor for battling heartburn.
