Adding some virtual cheer to your New Year's celebrations, Ikea (via its Swedish ad agency, Forsman & Bodenfors) has developed an iPhone app that lets you and your friends (and possibly that attractive yet nerdy stranger) virtually clink glasses filled with pixellated bubbly. As simulations of real-world activities go, this would seem to lack some of the fun—e.g., the alcohol part. But as the video below explains, the app lets you get drunk on social-media sharing instead. The connection to Ikea also seems a bit tenuous, but the furniture brand is probably quirky enough to make it work. But as always at this time of year, it's important to remember: Don't drink and assemble!
