“Come up to my place. I want to photograph you in your underwear. I publish a magazine, and I’ll put you on the cover.” How many misguided Lotharios have tried that line through the years? How many times has the offer been for real? Let’s see … there’s Hugh Hefner, Bob Guccione, those Brits from the laddie-mag scene … and Jonathan DaSilva? The enterprising Dracut, Mass., entrepreneur just launched Focus, a low-rent Maxim for the locals. This dude’s pretty slick. He doesn’t even pay the models—he gives them a “free portfolio,” which he claims is a “$250 value.” You’d think he could fork over a few bucks. He works at a Costco, so he probably saves a bundle on film processing with his employee discount.
