The pilot of a glider being pulled by a vehicle was killed on Thursday when his aircraft crashed during the filming of a General Motors commercial in Washington state. William Weller, 53, was the only person on board the DG Flugzeugbau glider when it crashed into trees immediately after takeoff in Cle Elum, Wash., the Seattle Times reports. The production company was Supply & Demand Integrated in Los Angeles. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the pilot," said Kira Carstensen, an executive producer there. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash. GM spokesman Patrick Morrissey said, "We extend our deepest and sincerest sympathies to the family of the pilot who was killed. We are cooperating with investigators."
